Hi all...
I just joined the tribe, and am hoping to get a little friendly advice.... I am going to be teaching myself to airbrush (finally!) and need to buy a compressor. I am hoping to do a wide variety of projects, from fabric to motorcycle helmets to skin. Can anyone recommend any brands or models? Also, feel free to steer me clear of any bad products... Thanks!

Re: Compressors?
Wed, February 8, 2006 - 4:17 PMHi Hunter,
What compressor you get depends on how quiet you want it, how much CFM (Thats' Cubic Feet/minute), and then if it offers filters, regulators, water traps, etc.
T-shirts generally need more CFM.
Skin you want to make sure it regulates to 20 PSI or lower, (More PSI and you can shoot air into the skin, and into the blood. Gives for the "Bends", similar to scuba diving).
How quiet you want is a personal preference.
I've got a Iwata PowerJet that's done me right. I use it mostly for skin, but some T-shirts. Haven't tried car body's yet. It goes to 60 PSI, but it is limited on it's CFM.
Hope that helps. -

Wed, February 8, 2006 - 5:52 PMThanks! I was looking at an Iwata Smart Jet.... but I'm still gathering info... I'd like it to be pretty quiet, but the end result is more important to me... -

Re: Compressors?
Sun, September 9, 2007 - 7:20 PMI have a silent air 20A and love it, I use it for Tattoos face/body painting.
The first time I plugged it in I thought "dam it don't work!" hit the brush and the air came out! wow it's quiet!
